Scholars@10 - The Future of the Scholars Program
To kick off the Baobab Summit 2022, we will welcome the Chairman of the Mastercard Foundation Board of Directors – Zein Abdalla, to provide an overview of the Scholars Program, why it was developed and why we are gathered to celebrate its decennial anniversary. We will hear from some Scholars and move into a discussion, which will be moderated by Julie Gichuru, Chief Public Affairs and Communications Officer, Mastercard Foundation.
Phil Cotton, Executive Director, Human Capital Development, Mastercard Foundation, will then moderate a discussion that focuses on the future of the Scholars Program and what is needed to ensure students have the knowledge, skills, and confidence to compete in a global marketplace. He will also unveil the strategy of the Scholars Program for the next decade.
The Baobab Summit brings together Mastercard Foundation Scholars every year to equip them with the skills they need to drive change.
This year, the Scholars Program marks its decennial with the Summit to celebrate the efforts of our diverse and dynamic partner network, and our talented and resilient Scholars. Join us in celebrating this one-of-a-kind education and leadership program.

Scholars@10 - Catalyzing Impact in Our Communities
Join us as we celebrate one of the key pillars of the Scholars Program; the Collective Impact of Our Community. During this event, we will look back on the impact the program has catalyzed within communities and discuss our renewed focus for the next 10 years.
We kicked off #Scholars10 celebrations with a fireside chat looking back at the wide-reaching impact of the Scholars Program.
Hear Scholars share their journey to higher education and how they are transforming their communities. The session also included a special performance by Mastercard Foundation Scholar alum Nkosinathi Mzembe.
Catch the inspiring conversation between Scholars, alumni, and program partners on the ripple effects of education.
